What CBSE’s Computational Thinking & AI direction really means
From 2026–27, CBSE is weaving Computational Thinking (CT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) through Classes III–VIII — not as a separate ‘computer period’, but as a way of thinking that runs across maths, science, social studies and language. The goal isn’t to turn every child into a coder. It’s to help them break problems down, spot patterns, reason step by step, and understand the AI already shaping their world.

Turning ‘seasons’ into a thinking lesson
A Class 6 teacher is about to explain why we get seasons. Instead of reading out the answer, she asks students to break the problem down (What moves — Earth or Sun? What is ‘tilt’?), spot the pattern (which months are hot in each hemisphere), and explain the rule in their own words.
