A simple, reliable structure to introduce yourself confidently in class, groups and interviews — with ready examples and what to avoid.
Introducing yourself well — in class, an interview or a new group — makes a strong first impression. Here's a simple, reliable structure you can adapt.
THE SIMPLE STRUCTURE
1) Greeting + name: "Good morning. My name is Anjali Sharma."
2) Where you're from / what you do: "I'm from Jaipur, and I'm a Class 12 student."
3) Interests or strengths: "I enjoy reading and I'm good with computers."
4) A closing line: "Thank you." / "It's a pleasure to be here."
A CLASS / GROUP EXAMPLE
"Hello everyone, I'm Rohit. I'm from Lucknow and I love playing cricket and coding small games. I'm excited to learn with all of you."
AN INTERVIEW EXAMPLE ("Tell me about yourself")
"Good morning. My name is Priya Verma. I recently completed my 12th in Commerce. I enjoy working with numbers and I'm comfortable with Excel and Tally. I'm looking for an opportunity where I can learn and contribute. Thank you."
TIPS THAT MAKE YOU SOUND CONFIDENT
• Smile and make gentle eye contact.
• Speak slowly — nervous people rush. A calm pace sounds confident.
• Keep it short: 4-5 clear sentences beat a long, tangled speech.
• End on a warm line ("Thank you" / "Glad to be here").
WHAT TO AVOID
• Don't memorise word-for-word and panic if you forget — know the points, not a script.
• Don't undersell yourself ("I don't know much…"). Be simple and positive.
Practise your 5-sentence intro out loud until it feels natural. You'll use it for the rest of your life.
