Ready-made English phrases for greetings, class, shopping, travel and phone calls — so you speak without translating in your head.
Confidence comes from having ready-made phrases you don't have to translate in your head. Learn these and use them until they feel automatic.
GREETINGS & SMALL TALK
• "Hi, how are you?" / "I'm good, thank you. And you?"
• "Nice to meet you." / "Have a good day!"
• "Long time no see! How have you been?"
AT SCHOOL / COLLEGE
• "Could you please repeat that?"
• "I have a doubt about this question."
• "Can you explain this once more, please?"
• "I didn't understand — could you say it slowly?"
AT A SHOP / MARKET
• "How much is this?"
• "Do you have this in another size/colour?"
• "Can you give a little discount?"
• "I'll take this one, thank you."
TRAVEL / DIRECTIONS
• "Excuse me, where is the railway station?"
• "Which bus goes to ___?"
• "How long will it take to reach?"
• "Please stop here."
ON THE PHONE
• "Hello, may I speak to ___?"
• "Sorry, I think you have the wrong number."
• "Could you hold on for a moment, please?"
BEING POLITE (these make a big difference)
• "Please", "Thank you", "Sorry", "Excuse me", "May I…?"
• "Could you…" is more polite than "Can you…" in requests.
HOW TO PRACTISE
Pick 5 phrases a day and actually say them out loud in real situations. Using a phrase once in real life teaches you more than reading it ten times.
